I thought I'd post it here since in a way it pertains to dos emulation, especially in the area of dos screen readers.
the braille n speak was an old notetaker for the blind that was released by blazy engeneering (now freedomscientific) in 1994. in addition to being a standalone notetaker, it could also act as a speech synthesiser for pc screen readers. the speech was provided by a votrax SSI263 synthesyzer chip.
tiler spivy made a braille n speak emulator for pc that uses com0com (a serial port emulator) to connect itself to dos box (or vmware, depending on what you are using it with, I use it with dos box). ESpeak is used to provide the speech synthesis.
Has anyone heard of iths?
also would it be possible to replace espeak with a propper emulator of the SSI263 chip the bns uses? I know the SSI263 is emulated on a few apple2 emulators as part of the mockingboard emulation.
to win the game you must defeat coppa!
