I've got a S100 Vision, it was a Set Top Box to watch videos on TV via internet with SCART/S_Video/Composite output. However, it's just a modified PC with a Celeron 733MHz, 128MB RAM and 82830MP/830M Intel Extreme Graphics (VBE 3.0). It has IDE, USB and even a PCI interface. I've managed to add a VGA connector and to install Win98SE with all drivers and it runs very well. But there is just one problem with my favorite game for MS-DOS/Win95: Sensible World of Soccer. This game has a screen resolution of 320x200 and usually runs with at least 60FPS. However, on this box it runs a bit slower as it should be. It runs smooth but not in full speed, somehow the timing is wrong, just like it's limited to 50FPS. I've tried with several monitors (even CRT) and BIOS settings, without any effect. Somehow, when connected to a TFT, it's scaled to 800x600 @ 60Hz and the picture is surrounded by black borders. Running the same game with a "normal" PC results in 720x400 @ 75Hz without borders and in full speed, of course. But not on this box and it makes no difference if running from Windows or pure DOS. I am really curious what is causing this and if it can be fixed at all. Any hints are much appreciated!!
SWOS isn't just a game - it's a way of life!
