Hello:

Does anyone have a Pentium III Slot 1 model processor with 100 MHz FSB and 1 GHz clockspeed that is new in box? I can't seem to find any on ebay.

Retro PC: Intel Pentium III @ 1 GHz, Intel SE440BX-2, 32 GB IDE DOM, 384 MB SDRAM, DVD-ROM, 1.44 MB floppy, Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti 4600 AGP, Creative SoundBlaster AWE64 Gold, Aureal Vortex 2
I only rely on 86box these days. My Pentium 3 PC died. 🙁

There is a single Slot1 P3 1000(100) on Ebay in the whole world at the moment.

It's used and costs $250, + $40 shipping from Asia. This is totally unreasonable, Im guessing you are in the US?

I cant even find a s370 P3 1000(100) but I did find the Coppermine 256KB PIII 1100(100) SL5QW, you will also need a FC-PGA slotket.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Intel-Pentium-III-1 … Y0AAOSwKrhVXlRC

This slotket isnt very good but it was the best I could find for a reasonable price, it's at least FC-PGA capable.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Super-Slotket-III-S … h4AAOSw5ZBWIBUM

If you are fast you can bid on this slotket, it's much better. starting bid $10 with 1h 30min left on the auction, no bids so far.

I think I got this last year.

I wish I had jumped on that train last year.

At least I found two "cheap" Coppermine Pentium III 1100(100) and two cheaper Coppermine Celeron 1100 in Latvia while trying to find CPUs in the US for user mattrock1988. I picked them all up along with a Barton Mobile 2800+.

Next year the top S370 Coppermines with 100 MHz FSB might be running dry aswell, the FC-PGA Coppermine Pentium III 1000(100) is already nowhere to be seen so I find it a bit odd that the 1100 is still available, luckily the SL5QW isn't a FC-PGA2 chip like the Coppermine 1133.

The 1100 works great with an adapter!

If they are indeed cheaper, definitely worth getting then.

The ones in the US isnt that cheap ($29) but it's probably still the best option for i440BX if you do not count the Korean guys FC-PGA modded Tualeron 1400,100,256.

There is even a FC-PGA Pentium III 1100(100) a stone throw from your house! 😉

Who the FUCK just bought the two 1100 Socket 370 models that were 9.99? I was literally just about to press the buy button you lucky bastard.

You have made a powerful enemy today, you do not realize the magnitude of the powers I posses... Ah, damn it, I can't be bothered, I was broke anyway so its probably a good thing.

I need them to be able to pit an optimal dual slot1 i440BX/GX rig against the dual i440GX slot2 rig Im building with 900MHz 2M Xeons, it will be an epic battle! 😀

Thaks to mattrock1988 I found them just in time it seems... I think more will show up though. The guy in the US seems to have trays worth of them but they are a bit too pricy for my taste.

the dual p3xeon-900-2m would surely win hands down... its the fastest 100fsb cpu in the world, even faster than tualatin celeron1.4g, so the coppermin pentium3s are no match.

I would think you are right but that wont hinder me from pitting them agianst each other. Im sure I can find something two Coppermine 1100 256KB can do better than two "Coppermine 2M" Cascades Xeon, it just has to fit into 256KB L2 cache! 😀

In 3dbench2 the Coppermine 1100 will win for sure!

It seems I stirred up the hive with my post.

I suppose I'll wait around for an 850 MHz model to surface. I am pretty happy with my current system.

Ha, it doesn't matter anyway, though I do kind of need them as I still rely on the Pentium III for some video stuff and it is a little slower than I'd like. Also I want them for a challenge I was set. I can probably get them somewhere else though. I'd better be able to because forget paying £30 for one plus shipping, that ain't going to happen, especially considering I need two of them. As there's only one part number I can only hope they are all identical, because I doubt I'll be able to find a matched pair anywhere.

Gotcha. Although getting a NIB 1 GHz 100 MHz FSB model Pentium III would be ideal, I think I'd be perfectly satisfied with an 850 MHz model if one can be found that doesn't look too beat up.

Used CPUs aren't really an issue for me per se, just that the fans tend to start going bad if they have a ton of hours put on them.

I spend all too much time searching Ebay, I will let you know if I see any cheap SL5QW as I do not need more than the two I already bought. I will buy a few more modded Tualeron 1400,256,100 from Korea for single slot i440BX boards though but this will have to wait. I have a few more items on my "must have now if they turn up"-list other then that I'm going to try to not buy more stuff the next month or so.

The new capture card kind of blew my budget for this month.

It really doesn't matter and like I said, it's probably a good thing given I already blew the electric bill on the Nx and made sure of it when I remembered to pay for a Pentium 66 I forgot about. Last thing I need is more debt, I'll find some when I'm ready. I'm around on a few places other than eBay and often such things are cheaper there. In the mean time it isn't causing me any problems and my 850's are doing just fine, they just moan about HD rendering a little. Could be worse, I used to be running Katmai 500's in there and I had a much slower video card than I have now.

@mattrock1988; I see boxed ones come up every so often, perhaps add a saved search or something. Failing that, the Slotket method works most of the time and then you can use a new cooler on it (Most Socket A coolers fit too and are overkill for the P3), slotkets aren't usually expensive... Actually, I may have a spare one if you want to try that method, it only works with Coppermine's however so if you want to use a Tualatin later you won't be able to with that adapter. Not sure what i did with them though, I'd have to look for them to see what I have spare. I did have a Socket 370 version of the chip too, but it's faulty unfortunately or you could have had it.

Hmm... I might have to take you up on that, HighTreason. Is it a PowerLeap or some generic equivalent that supports PIII Coppermines? I'm not really picky, so long as I can use it in the SE440BX-2 board I have.

I ordered two 1100Mhz Coppermines (11x100Mhz) socket 370 for 40$ shipped at the end of February from the same chinese guy who sold me my K6-III CPUs and some of my high-end socket A stuff. They've yet to arrive unfortunately... I think he still has some in stock, although I'm not 100% on that -. they're 20$ / piece with free shipping. The only downside is packages from him take 30 to 45 days to arrive...

Here you go - http://www.ebay.com/itm/261978340584?_trksid= … K%3AMEBIDX%3AIT - he seems to have 8 more left.

Aren't those specific Pentium III CPUs known to have stability and performance issues? I heard Intel pushed the clocks on some Coppermines as high as 1.13 Ghz and was having problems. Maybe I'm conflating this with something else.

Does anybody have Benchmarks of the 1100Mhz version of PIII ?
Well, i've downloaded Phil's Excel File (.xlx) "Phil's Ultimate VGA Benchmark Database Project" in January and February, there was no 1100Mhz inside.

When i download the actual one, there's again no 1100MHz PIII, but it seems there's maybe a bug inside which gives "#NAME?" in column 'auto generated'.

Would be interesting, how much faster a 1100MHz (100FSB) against my 866MHz (133FSB) can be. I've got my PIII 866Mhz really cheap for 1€ = 1,13US$ (actual exchange rate).
The only benchmark i'll find very fast is the one from tom's hardware where you have the 800E, 800EB and 1000EB Pentium III with Q3 (640*480) and Unreal benchmarks (1024*768).
800E: Q3 - 105.8 , Unreal 73.3
800EB: Q3 - 121.0 , Unreal 80.9
1000EB: Q3 - 136.2 , Unreal 94.1

I do have benchmarks for the 1100, but not comparing with other processors. It looks into graphics card and resolution scaling.

http://www.philscomputerlab.com/3dfx-voodoo-s … ut-project.html

I don't expect much difference between the 900, 1000 and 1100 MHz processors. What matters a lot is fast memory timings. Because the frequency is only 100 MHz, pretty much any PC133 CL3 memory will do 100 MHz at CL2 timings.
