Hi

I would like to ask you for a advice.
FDD 720k in my Bondwell Model 8 laptop, display I/O error.
Looks like the floppy drive has been broken.

I have swithed for tests to standard 1.44 MB floopy drive but system do not recoginize the device ;/

Do you have the experience if standard 3.5 floppy drive can be modified to 720k ?

thanks

I found a discussion similar to yours:

I have never tried it myself, but a high-density drive should suffice as a low-density replacement, but will only operate as a 720kb drive.

If the original drive isn't working, and the replacement drive isn't working, then maybe your system has a problem with the controller itself.

Can you use it to read/write 720kb disks? That's all you'll be able to do if so.

If it sees it but it still doesn't work at all then I don't know; maybe try another 1.44mb drive?

You can also look into an HxC device, I'm using a few in some old 720k only machines and they work perfectly for using SD cards for floppy disks.
