There were actually PIII boards with DDR slots! I did not know that. Looks like VIA did not learn from the Rambus days... Must've had no benefit either way due to the older PIII architecture.

of course there were, based on via pro266 and ali pro5 chipsets. but few board models were made, and even fewer to support tualatin(asus tua266, iwill dvd266u and so on). probably because most board manufactures knew that ali and via chipsets had a lot more issues than intel 815 so they wouldn't put much effort on it.
