Hi all,
I've got my eye on a Toshiba T4700CT laptop on eBay, and I'm wondering if anyone has any information about the sound card in it.
All I could find on the internet was the spec sheet, which says it has a "Windows Sound System (wave)" and doesn't mention OPL3 or FM sound at all.
On the other hand, the spec sheet for the T4900CT says it has "Windows Sound System and a YMF262 OPL3 chip". So does this mean that the 4700 doesn't have OPL3?
I did some research on WSS and I haven't found any evidence that there was any implementation of it which lacked the FM synthesis, but you never know.
In addition, what is the SB emulation like on WSS? How many games does it work with? I know some games (like Tyrian 2000) support WSS directly, but I need this to work with as many as possible.
Also, I found this thing on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-Multimedia-No … qoAAOSwJkJWjx6F
What IS this? Appears to be some generic-branded laptop. Does anyone know anything about this? Would it make as perfect a DOS gaming machine as it looks? If so, please don't buy it, I want it really bad 🤣 but I need someone to tell me if it's too good to be true and it's actually a lemon.
Thanks!
