I tested a Compaq Armada 1590DT laptop with a CRT and two different LCD monitors.

The colors with the CRT monitor were the best. The downside is the huge size of the CRT and I would like to get a good LCD replacement for it.

When testing the laptop with a HP LCD monitor, the colors were showing correct, but the LCD monitor itself sucks.

The second LCD monitor I tested, was a 10 year old Viewsonic. The colors in EGA graphics games were all reddish. Where do this red color come from? I have had same problems with Matrox video cards too on LCD screens before. I always thought the video cards would be damaged, but I'm not sure about it after all.

After testing this a bit more it looks like to be a problem only with the Commander Keen games. But is there any way to fix this?

Does the monitor by chance have mode specific color calibration? Check the OSD settings and/or try a factory reset.

I tried reseting settings, didn't help. And the problem was on different LCDs so problem may either be the video card or something in the game itself. Adjusting colors didn't help.
