The Ahead-PB4S looks like a clone of the LuckyStar LS486E.

The s486 looks like a clone of the Zida Tomato 4DPS and has what looks to be PS/2 mouse headers.

Yes, even if the S486 is not a 99% 4dps clone (like a PCi-400 for example) it might still worth your consideration on merit of having a solid chipset and ps/2 mouse port. It also has one more ISA slot but I doubt anybody would retrofit a modern 486 board with 4 isa cards...

yeah i am considering to buy the s486 board. the ahead-pb4s post is just for show and not for sale but i wonder what model it is.
however i don't quite get how you identify them as clones of ls486e and 4dps. while they do have the same chipset in similar places, many other components including cache slots and bios chip ain't. besides, as i said, if you look at the abit-pb4, you will find that its almost identical to the ahead-pb4s, except having different chipsets.

Well, you have a point here, only the buyer/owner has a real chance to identify the motherboards by a closer inspection, dumping the BIOS etc.
Never translate a "look like" or "even if" for an "IT IS" 😀

What choice of wording would you find more appropriate? "Near clone" ? Based on the images I pulled up, it looks like whoever made the board was trying to clone the Luckystar and 4DPS boards.

okay, have you at least seen the picture of abit-pb4? and do you think that the abit-pb4 is also an imitated luckystar with chipset swapped?

If the chipsets are different, then I probably won't put the boards in the same "clone" classification, unless the chipsets are clones themselves. Also, the Abit board has that EISA-looking slot, which is not an EISA slot. I forgot what it is for, but there is a Vogons post on it somewhere.

Probably when you get a motherboard layout so small there are only so many positions to place the components. I suspect this is why many of these super mini AT motherboards have similar layouts.

well, i hope there would be someone knowing about them.
i am considering buying the s486 board, but would be wasted if i can't find any manual, so better know what exactly it is.
