Hi Folks,

I just bought a Fujitsu/Diamond FIRE GL2 64MB AGP graphics card from ebay for the princely sum of 99p. It's new unused. I only grabbed it because of the price, anyone know anything about these things?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fujitsu-Diamond-Fir … cvip=true&rt=nc

here's a link to the auction page, the pictures are dreadful!
So what did I spend my money on? 🤣
What's it good for and what kind of system should I install it into on arrival?
Drivers? what do I need?

Looking forward to your input.
Best,
Chris

The Fire GL2 has a raw power next to Geforce256:
Pixel Fillrate (MPixel/s): 410
Texel Fillrate (MTexel/s): 200
Triangle/Vertices Rate (M/s): 27

Here are values of Geforce256:
Pixel Fillrate (MPixel/s): 480
Texel Fillrate (MTexel/s): 480
Triangle/Vertices Rate (M/s): 0

Here are values of Geforce3Ti200:
Pixel Fillrate (MPixel/s): 700
Texel Fillrate (MTexel/s): 1400
Triangle/Vertices Rate (M/s): 42.7

#1 K6-2/500, #2 Athlon1200, #3 Celeron1000A, #4 A64-3700, #5 P4HT-3200, #6 P4-2800, #7 Am486DX2-66

Triangle/Vertices Rate (M/s): 0 for Geforce256? how? iirc all geforce had hardware T/L, isnt that what the triangle/vertices numbers are referring to?

There are more stages of pipeline working on something like triangle and vertices, you do not even need TnL for some. Each can have its own number abstracting performance, for example the TnL of GeForce256 is rated for 15 Mtris/s.
It might also be good idea to remember whether texel fillrates are bilinear, trilinear or whatever, and do not confuse them like happened here.

Sadly this was the mess that arrived at my door today 🙁
Top heatsink knocked off, cracked chip, and a bent up end plate. Another part for digital heaven.

Any thoughts on testing it in case the damage is cosmetic?

I had a look at the die of the bare chip. Are you sure the die itself is cracked? It looks like it's the glue that's on top of the chip, it might still work if you test it after you cleaned up the card and re-attached the heatsink.

Or is it the top right corner of the die that has a bit chipped off?

Whats missing in your collections?

Yes, the top right does have a nasty chip on the die, but I figured, why not test anyway, so re-fixed the heat sink & what do you know it works fine!!! Think I was really lucky with this one! The 2D image quality is superb(as expected of a card that cost $1200), we see how it does in 3D later when i have some more time. currently installed it in my Windows 2000 Duron 800 machine.

Best,
Chris
