Z77 supports XP, but it has no native PCI. YMF are known to work on Z77 boards by PCM. It still unknown does FM work there. Have someone tried this?
This may be tested by installing XP's native YMF driver 5.2.3662.0 (it's available also there). Then to choose "Yamaha FM Synthesizer" for MIDI in Control Panel->Multimedia and try to play some midi file.

The FM results are also interesting on MBs with intel chipsets 6x - 9x.
