Hello.

I want to get some decent soundcard to act as a host for yamaha/roland db. Do you think Turtle Beach Maui would be a good performer in this role? (pure DOS applications) Does it have hardware support MPU-401 and does it work in intelligent mode? And do you think the output quality may compete with cards like Yamaha Audician? (I would get it, but its small form factor makes this choice questionable to me).

I'm pretty confused becouse some sources put it in question if this card has any working DB connector at all...

Thank you for your feedback!

The Turtle Beach Maui cannot host a MIDI daughterboard, so no. The pin-header on the Maui was originally designed to connect, via ribbon cable, to a corresponding WaveBlaster header on a primary host card, like the Sound Blaster 16. Turtle Beach abandoned this idea early on, which is why later Maui cards lack the installed pins entirely.

OK, so it was supposed to act as a DB itself, not to host one.

Thank you for that clear answer - it's hard to find any reliable information concerning this particular card.
