EDIT: Sorry I somehow completely missed that you were looking for ISA. I don't think there are any VIA ISA cards that I know of.

I think the VIA AC97 sound that was basically the first generation of motherboard integrated sound via was involved in. Outside of that i've never owned one but I know there were a couple VIA audio chipsets. Here are some a quick search unearthed for me

Your best bet might be to try to dig up who they bought out (or at least licensed tech from) to build their first AC97 chips. There's probably some connection to an old obsolete tech company in there somewhere, which would make it okay to use one of that company's sound cards. 😀

Whats the issue with using a PCI card? It seems to be period correct based on your other thread about this build.

Here is the list of audio codecs they hae developed. I looked at companies they have bought over the years and it doesn't seem like there are any that had any significant audio hardware. If there is a relationship between VIA and another audio chipset company it's very obscure.
