Hi all,

First of all, I want to thank Chill/Phil/Serdaco for making this awesome device!
I'm satisfied with Chill and Phill Mpu-401 Wavetable Adapter:-

and together with the Dreamblast X1. 😀

Now, on to my adventure..
My Retro-Computer spec:-
Motherboard Brand - I dont know, made in China coz when I bought this 15 years ago... it was without "box or CD", so I gave it a home..
P3 833 -Tualatin
512MB SD RAM
3xPCI and 1xAGP
2 build in USB ports
1 Build-In Soundcard with Gameport/Midi port (Disabled in BIOS but enable only Midi port)
1 Goteks Floppy Drive
IDE Master Channel:-
1 IDE DVD Drive
1 HDD IDE Drive..
IDE Master Slave:-
2 X Compact Flash in 1. (8GB for both)

AGP-Voodoo 5 5500,
PCI-
Intel Server Pro Network Card,
PCI VIA Raid card (to support 1TB SATA GREEN Drive for all my Retro collection, ISO..etc..)
and finally 1 Vortex 2 Soundcard.

My issue is simple...

1. I fresh install Win98 SE, and plug in the WaveTable Adapter onto the Build-In Motherboard MPU-401. (Audio cable goes into Vortex 2 Soundcard Line-in to Mix)
When I enable the Midi port in BIOS, in Win98 It detected as "MPU-401 MIDI Device" but in DirectX, it shows as "Roland MPU-401"...
I did DirectX sound test and played Final Fatansy 7.. is all superb...

But in Win XP Pro.... It detected as "MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device" but in DirectX, it shows as "MPU-401"...
Sadly, both DirectX and FF7 have "Hanging Note Bug".... (Several notes hanging bug)
Why? 🙁 Any idea guys?
I was thinking.. can we port the Win98 Driver for the MPU-401 onto WinXP? or do we have a better WinXP Driver for mpu-401?

2. Initially, I wanted to use the Vortex 2 Wavetable for the Dreamblaster X1... but I do not have experience with Vortex 2 so I couldn't get the midi working on XP/DOS/98... after several days, I give up... can Vortex 2 Wavetable work in WinXP? or only in Win2k/98? I know the DOS sound is working.. but not the Midi via wavetable.... I must be doing something wrong.. or wrong drivers.. 🙁 Any thoughts?

You're using Vortex 2 in XP? That's no good... the driver definitely isn't feature-complete (just very basic functions, no reliable A3D support etc). So unless someone come up with a new custom driver for these cards, stay with Win9x.

I don't mind let it run in Win9x... but the Vortex 2, errm... what driver should I use, to enable the build-in Wave daugtherboard? or how do I turn on the midi port in Win9x? @@ 😕
