Hi

I ve got this game Populos by Bullfrog from 1989. I cant make the sound work 😒

My setup:
I have Windows XP, Geforce2 Video, SB128 Audio, Athlon2100XP CPU, ECS K7S6A Motherboard, 256MB memory, DOSBOX v0.61, Render method Surface

I ve tried to play around with the sound(and CPU cylce) settings changing the RAM and enabling/disabling EMS but no luck. Tried to change the IRQ of SB/GUS, enabling other older sound devices, but not working, except for PC speaker, but thats not good because i Definitely remember, that it was Better than PC speaker.
The bad thing is that this game doesnt have any sound config or any kind of config or documentation, so i cant even tell what config it would require.
Other games like Stronghold(1993) Another World(1991) are working just fine with sound and everything, and Populos works as well, just with no sound.

If Any of you got any idea how to make this work, pls help !

Greetings

Ohh, i just dig up the Original Package 😎 of the game 😀 and on the install Disk it says:

"IBM PC, XT and 100% compatibles, Tandy 1000,
384K required, Mouse recommended, Blank Disk required"

I guess that "Tandy 1000" should be the sound card, but if i enable "Tandy 3 voice" in D-Fend, it still doesnt have any sound.

greetings

I think it depends solely on personal taste. Most games music soundtrack will sound better with Roland but there are some of them with great Adlib soundtracks. 😁
