Dosbox installation error in Win XP

Hi guys, Thanx for your help! 😁 I'm a newbie with Dosbox and I'm trying to install version 0.61 on my PC (Athlon 2600+ on SoltekSL-75MRN-L motherboard with Nvidia Nforce2 chipset, 333mhz FSB, 2x256DDR RAM, onboard Geforce 4 MX GPU 128mb). Every time I start the installer I get this message:
"16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem:
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
CS:0dab IP:011f OP:65 63 74 20 61 Choose 'Close' to terminate the application."

Am i doing something wrong, or is this a bug?

BTW. I have tried to re-download the windows installer a couple of times, and even tried version 0.60 with same result.... 😮

you downloaded it from the official server ?
dosbox.sf.net ?

if so. your system is somehow damaged.
the dosbox installer is quite simple and doesn't use many strange features.

I retried the download from dosbox.sf.net with same problem, then I noticed that the file being downloaded was only 12.3 kb... Somehow the website is offline and only gave me the .HTM file misnamed as the installer. I'll retry the download later.. Thanx! 😊 🤣

Finally managed to download the right file! 😅
It seems that Internet Exploiter is unable to download from the sf.net pages, had to do it with Netscape..
Thanx anyway! 😀
