There's a thread in dev discussion on running Windows under DosBox with some arguments that there's not much point in that because DosBox is mainly geared towards games and Windows (esp. 3.x) didn't have that much games, just apps.

I think people are forgetting Multimedia programs. Windows 3.1 has some nice multimedia programs, or at least programs that work under it. For example Encarta etc. Multimedia programs fit IMHO fairly well to the definition of games, they have interactive sound and graphics, they do their own UIs instead of using Windows UI, etc 😀

And there are some games for Win32 that wont run under NT.
All the older BlueByte games for example.

@BastetFurry: Just, slow down a bit ...
True Win32 games are IMHO COMPLETELY out of question. Even if somebody adapted DOSBOX for Windows 9x, it would be unusable because of speed (just imagine W9x on low end 486 computer 😀 ). And I am not speaking yet about DirectX... I wonder when somebody asks when Windows XP will work ... Just remember what the DOSBOX is!

In the context of DOSBOX, running Windows will mean ONLY 16 bit Windows (which IMHO are reasonable and feasible goal). If you need W9x go elsewhere (Virtual PC, Bochs etc.).
