3dfx voodoo banshee. what do I win?

A cookie? 😀 Thanks a lot for the ID though. For a moment I thought I had found a very cheap Voodo 3 1000 listed as just a graphics card.. I already have a Voodoo 2 12MB, I guess I'll pass on this one.

I spend a lot of time on ebay looking at scrap computer lots, trying to find diamonds in the rough. ^.^

The banshee still isn't bad though. in many ways it's more of a proto-v3 rushed out for the oem market. They're among the last 3dfx cards vendors could put out

I know but lack of multitexturing kills it for me, especially when I have a 12MB Voodoo 2 PCI drop-in card on demand.. It would be an interesting card to have but I gave up on collectiong components for the sake of owning them, lack of space and time forbids that (and the SO..) so I just buy what I can use in builds I make and store.. There are a lot of better early AGP cards than the Banshee IMO, and if you really need early glide the V2 is much better and easier to obtain.

Can't quite tell, but that banshee looks like it has a SLI connector on it, I wonder if anyone has ever SLI'd a AGP and PCI banshee before? I guise the Banshee PCI cards sucked in SLI so AGP/pci Banshee would be a lot worse.

Could not quite tell on my end. If I recall only diamond cards had sli connectors

With graphics cards it's an easy giveaway: two connectors on the top left side like that is a banshee, it's the only card i know that has that. especially together with that shape of ram you can't go wrong.

Just FYI many i740 cards and voodoo rush have the same (shape-wise) connectors.

yes! You're right. But Rush is a different animal and you can see it easy but i740 does indeed look like a Banshee sometimes, even with that shape of memory.

So i stand corrected (now please help me in my zida 4dps topic! 😎 )

It may not be an absolute way of telling Banshee from something else, but all things combined do make a good educated guess possible. Heck, there were several people here who's first guess was that it was a Banshee without anyone knowing for sure that this was the case 😜
