I recently reformatted my hard drive so that I could replace my WinXP Home ed. OS with WinXP Pro. In so doing I changed the format from NTFS to FAT32, thinking that it might speed things up a bit. To my surprise, when I reinstalled DOSBox 0.61 and called up Windows Task Manager, it was using up 100% of the CPU Usage!! That never happened when I used 0.61 on my NTFS hard drive and WinXP Home; unless I loaded a game and hit the CTRL-F12 to up the usage it typically only used about 30-45%.

Sooo, does this mean that DOSBox works best under NTFS? Hate to have to reformat and reload the OS again, but I'll do it if this will be the fix! I want my DOSBox back! 😉

Strange... DOSBOX is independent on file system. It does not use any low level functions, so it does not matter what the underlying file system is.

This must be caused by something different, not DOSBOX. Possibly Windows work better under NTFS or some programm was running in bacckground.

dosbox works evenly well with fat32 as with ntfs. There is probably something else wrong (like video drivers or sdl version)
