Ive been struggling with the warcraft serie for some time.
the game works in win95, no problem.

but if i try to run it in Ms-dos, it WONT detect anything about my sound card
wich is : CT2950 - Creative Sound Blaster 16 Value PnP
my config is :

AUTOEXEC.BAT
-----------------
SET MIDI=SYNTH:1 MAP:E
SET SOUND=C:\PROGRA~1\CREATIVE\CTSND
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 T6

CONFIG.SYS
---------------
**there's nothing about my sound card in there, autoexec.bat only**

i would say that around 95% of my games running on my ms-dos dont have any problems.
warcraft 1 , warcraft II are the ones who wont accept.

ah, and also dungeon keeper. Same problem.

anyone had that problem once and found a solution ?
thanks 😀

WC1 and WC2 run well on my DOS machine with a SB16. The lines I am using are:

[CONFIG.SYS]

DEVICE=C:\CTCM\CTCM.EXE

[AUTOEXEC.BAT]

SET SOUND=C:\SB16
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 T6
SET MIDI=SYNTH:1 MAP:E
SET CTCM=C:\CTCM
C:\SB16\DIAGNOSE /S
C:\SB16\MIXERSET /P /Q
C:\CTCM\CTCU /S

I haven't tried Dungeon Keeper in DOS.

Is this too much voodoo?

I would say that you almost certainly need the CTCM device driver line in your config.sys, as Errius has, and possibly the DIAGNOSE command in autoexec.bat as well. This sets up the PnP values. I am actually a little surprised other DOS programs work fine without it...

Yes, I'm surprised as well; however you don't necessarily need it in CONFIG.SYS. CTCM is an application that can be run from AUTOEXEC.BAT.
