Found this again so had to share - the first edition of PCFormat magazine from October 1991. I used to buy this religiously for decades. Shut down a year or two back and content was taken over by PCGamer, but it's not the same.

Enjoy! (Not OCR'd though which is a bit of a shame)

Cheers,
Steve

Thanks, some of the titles in there bring back memories. One question, have you ever run across issue one of personal computer world on your travels and if so where did you find it?

No afraid I haven't. Did a quick search and this guy is after them all - http://pcwpp.blogspot.co.uk/2010/06/every-onc … -i-get-bug.html. The covers are here - http://www.primrosebank.net/pcw/pcw_ov.htm Supposedly The National Museum Of Computing at Bletchley Park has them all according to a comment on that first link "All PCWs are available at The National Museum of Computing (http://tnmoc.org). They are currently being digitised too."

Haha, had a good laugh on page 13 where I got reminded, that PC's in the late 80's / early 90's were oftenly depicted in front of these weird marble pattern backgrounds... 😀

I remember that machine (Amstrad PC4386SX) being used a lot in pictures advertising desks. The thing they never mentioned in the ads is that the machine is equipped with a 10" (yes TEN inch) monitor which made the desk look massive (ok, large(ish)) in the photos when in reality they were not that large at all.

I actually have one of those machines, the screen it not too bad all things considered but getting parts for the thing is a bit of a nightmare, nothing is standard.

I wasn't really into PC gaming back in those days, and I'm not from the UK... but this magazine is great! I'll definitely keep this as a reference for matching early 90s games to period correct hardware. Thank you for posting this! 😀

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.
