I have a Sony Vaio PCG-505SX which has a BIOS that only works with hard disks up to 2GB. I have tried setting the drive geometry manually but anything above the limit will cause the disk to be inaccessible. Limiting the geometry to 2GB or below on a larger disk does not provide any access; it will simply appear as though no disk is attached.

There is a BIOS update "BIOS2128.exe" previously available from Sony but the link is dead and I cannot find a link to it anywhere:
