First of all, hello! I am new here. I found this forum after deciding I'd like to play some old games, and researching good DOS gaming machines on Google. I hope this will be a good place to discuss DOS gaming and learn about older machines!
After reading some topics on this forum, I decided to purchase a Toshiba Libretto 70CT. I found one on Ebay that appeared to be in good working order. However, it was damaged during shipment.
The bottom left corner of the LCD panel had broken. Instead of returning it, I decided to purchase some spare parts and try to fix it myself.
I received those parts yesterday. I opened my 70CT and removed the original panel with the part number 'LQS1D133'. After removal, I noticed that the new panel's part number is 'LQ61D133'. I figured these were interchangeable. I installed the new panel in the laptop.
After changing the hardware, I experienced all sorts of issues. I received new errors during the bootup process, and the machine would either freeze once loading to the desktop, or would give the blue screen of death.
I reinstalled the old panel, and the PC boots to the desktop just fine.
A quick search of Google tells me that 'LQ61D133' (the new panel I installed) is the correct part for the machine, and 'LQS1D133' is mentioned almost nowhere.
I am at a complete loss as to why this appropriate replacement part will not work with the laptop. If anyone has an idea, your advice or input would be much appreciated.
