what onboard video + sound does it have? are you gonna add a NIC?

Also those slots on the top of the case are for holding CD jewel cases

or... if you're crazy enough, 120mm fan vents!

It has a S3 Trio 64 of some sorts (with 2 Meg of RAM) and I don't know what audio chip is there, ESS something or other...

I will add a NIC, not sure if it will be wireless or not. I've an old D-link wifi card lying around somewhere, I'll see if it works.

For this you'll need to cut through what looks like automotive grade steel casing. British automotive grade steel that is, but I'd still rather not 😁

Didn't know there was a 133 MHz Pentium MMX. I thought the lowest you can go was 166. There is a laptop MMX@133 (and even 120), though.

You may be right - I'll need to power it up and check that. 133 was what the seller have told me but I've never checked that actually.

I don't know. That is exactly the reaction I had back when these things were common as dirt at all the office supply stores. Who designed this atrocity, and who saw that design and then green-lit it? Is it just a dish to focus the sound of the CD-ROM spinning up, or was the CAD guy a dilophosaurus?

I have no nostalgia for the era of bulbous cases. Ugh.. awful. The monitors were just as bad, particularly with the "ears" hung on the sides.

Also even better, the only power switch is on the power supply...

There's also no reset button, so if Ctrl Alt Del doesn't solve your problem, you have to reach behind the computer (god forbid if you have it on the floor under a desk) and turn the computer off then back on.

There were also Compaq sub-notebooks in the 90's that only had soft power button, no reset and no easily removable battery. When THAT locked-up you had to either wait for the battery to drain dry or to open the case with a screwdriver!
