I picked up an 800MHz Slot 1 CPU that I am hoping to use to upgrade my 650MHz system.

The 650MHz CPU has an easy to use cooler and I put a modern fan on it.

The 800MHz CPU has one of these....

Can I put the 650MHz cooler on the 800MHz CPU? And will the black 800MHz cooler fit on the 650MHz cooler (so I can sell it on)? I thought I'd check before I probably break the black heatsink...

Given that they are both Coppermine, they should have the same PCB => same hole layout. Pay attention not to mismatch the PCBs from their front cover.

You should have no problems installing the modded one. To remove the Intel cooler, you have to unclip two tabs from the top/bottom (can't remember which side), then you can deal with the four pegs.

Yes it is possible, but it is very easy to damage the exposed SECC2 cpu dies when mounting these things, so be careful..
