Hello

I am looking for those card for my collection but it is rare... in ebay is MIA, and the price is too high. What happens with this card? I know it sold well and it wasn't expensive.

Thanks

I know a lot of the 9x00 series cards cooked themselves to death back in the the day.

Quite a few died due to the "die shim of death".

Good cards if you can find one though. I have a 9500 that soft mods into a 9700 and a 9700 Pro. I've de-shim'd both!

Cheers

What "myth" are you trying to "bust" here, exactly..?

It is the second option but I will prefer a real 9700. I have (almost) all models of 9800, it is only for collection.

It is a joke. I am looking for those card from months and 0 units. For other hand I was talking with collectors, and they didn't see one. I am being to think that the 9700 are myths.

I have had 3 and 2 did not work on arrival. The 3rd was my original one from release and that died not too soon after purchase one night during a gaming session

I have my original radeon 9700 pro and I still have the original box and stuff for it. I have not dared to use it with any retro builds because of the shim problems these cards have and not knowing what the contact between the die and the heatsink is.

I had to resort to a fireGl x1 modded to 9700 pro
