Hi guys,

I received a new 430TX motherboard, the iWill P55XUB and I have some strange issues with the PS/2 mouse. I can't seem to make it work, no matter what I try.
As far as I can tell, this is the connector (although I'm not 100% sure, since I was unable to find a manual for this board):

I tried plugging in the PS/2 bracket connector both ways, but Windows still reports that there's no mouse attached.
The way I see it, there are two possibilities:
1. This might not actually be the correct PS/2 connector, although it sure looks like it (hard to tell without the manual)
2. It is the right connector, but there's an issue with the motherboard.

Does anybody have any ideas? Also, if anybody has the manual and can give it to me too, I'd appreciate it 😀

There is no guarantee that the bracket connector will have the correct wire order in either orientation. You need to look up the PS/2 pin out, tone out which wire colors are which signals. Then use a multimeter to determine which pins on the MB are +5V and GND by checking for continuity to the rails at the PSU connector. Connect those and then hook up clock and data to the other two pins. If it doesn't work the first way you try, reverse clock and data.

Thanks a lot for the tip!
I think I now remember doing this back in the day, but had totally forgotten about it.
What's strange is that I now have many PS/2 brackets from various AT motherboards, and they all seem to have identical pinout, and so far these brackets have worked for all AT boards that I tested (and I probably tested upwards of 30).
Anyway, indeed, I tested with the multimeter, and this connector is different. The first pin next to the AT connector is 5V, then there's a gap, and right after that the GND. I checked the PS/2 mouse pinout, modified the pins accordingly and BAM, it works.
Thanks again 😀
