Today I want to show you my 486 that just got a significant update sound card wise.
I've had this machine for quite some time now and used it rarely, but a few weeks ago I found a scrap lot as described in this post: Re: Bought these (retro) hardware today
When it arrived, it turned out that both the GUS and the Roland SCB-7 were damaged, which lead to this thread: Identifying components on Gravis Ultrasound MAX Rev. 1.8 and Roland SCB-7 - and ultimately to the successful repair of both cards.
So on that occasion I decided to clean up the Hyundai, give it a fresh install of MS-DOS and throw both cards in there.
The specs are now:
- Hyundai 466G, Model "4000 Green"
- Gigabyte GA-486VS motherboard (ISA + VLB)
- Intel 486 DX2-66 CPU
- 40 MB RAM
- 512 MB CF card (IDE adapter)
- Tseng ET4000AX ISA graphics card
- Generic VLB floppy/IDE/parallel/serial controller (Promise PDC2030 chipset)
- Sony CDU33A 2x CD-ROM drive with 8bit ISA controller card
- 3Com Etherlink III 509B network card
- Creative Sound Blaster 16 CT2230
- Roland SCB-7 MIDI daughterboard
- Gravis Ultrasound MAX Rev. 1.8
Running MS-DOS 6.22, maybe I'll go with Windows 3.11 as well. Setup was relatively painless.
