SDL: Cant set Palette Error on WinME

Whenever I try to start Dosbox I receive following message in the first windows that opens

MIDI:Opened device:win32
Exit to error: SDL:Can't set palette

Strange thing, Dosbox DID run some time on my PC (PIII-455, WinME) till after some program crashed and I ran ScanDisc. Anyone got some ideas?

It shouldn't be trying to set a palette unless you're running in 8-bit (256 color) mode, which you shouldn't be doing (are you?)
