Hello,
Reccently I got this 486 motherboard. I believe it's Peacock P486DX rev. :D.( At least that's what markings say). It was booting up, untill I connected HDD to that IDE slot. Unplugged HDD and still no boot. Any idea what's going on?
I see a lot of tantalum caps. Can you check the AT connector for any shorts ?
Maybe some of the caps failed right after you used that board ?

Nothing seems to be shorted, sadly
Oh, I forgot. Before dead of this mobo I reseated ram, cpu and video card after plugging hdd and it helped, but not for second time.
It seems to be yet again a connection problem somewhere. Perhaps a broken joint near the hdd connector since connecting something there caused the problem ?

Well, so I need to check that. Is there any possibility that connecting hdd could burn that motherboard?
Unless you hdd has a major flaw or that you connected it incorrectly I don't think so. You also pointed that it worked better for a brief moment after reseating everything (without hdd connected I guess ?)

Well, this hdd had worked fine with other pc, and if the markings on the motherboard is fine I've connected it correctly. Yeah, the first time I've triend to use it with hdd that method helped. Also, does that matter that this
IDE connector have got all pins?
Tried to reseat BIOS chip, also washed it with alcohol. It didn't help.
Looked with my infrared camera at that board after switching on the power , and the chip marked symphony sl82c362(that one near IDE connector) is't heating at all. Dunno if it were heating up while that board was alive, but maybe there is a loose joint near that chip.
