Hi Guys,

I’m having problems with an old AWE64 Gold card. It was working fine few years ago, but now when I plugged it in a PC, it gives me Bad checksum error on PnP detection. Other topics here were mentioning it was an issue with the chip EEPROM.

So I desoldered it and placed it in a programmer and yep it showed garbage on read. I’ve tried flashing it with the proper CT4390 eeprom values from the other thread here, but it wasn’t programming correctly. So I’ve ordered new chip, this time it programmed successfully. I soldered it back again, but the error message was still the same, this time with different values.

Anyway after that I’ve noticed that the following cap (C91) is missing and broken. Do anyone of you knows the correct value, so that I could solder a replacement?

Thanks 🙏

should just be a basic decoupling cap - 0.1uf would work fine

Yep, that was it. Adding this cap fixed the issue, now the card is working completely fine. Thanks !!
