I recently switch the wavetable daughter-board on my OPLSAx YMF718 based card to an NEC XR385, and those bad boys are loud. I'm using SETUPSA to control the mixer and the wavetable volume is controlled by the 'Aux 2' sliders under the WSS mixer settings. This works fine for some games - Dune 2, Warcraft II, etc - but games that mess around with the mixer like DOOM, etc end up with super loud GM.

This isn't a big deal because all of the games in question have in-game sliders for music volume so I can just turn it down to match the FX levels, but it does bother me all the same. Is there any way to stop these games from increasing the wavetable volume?

Thanks.

There's no method to lock mixer settings so you're at the mercy of whatever those games set the mixer to. I am not aware of any card with mixer locking feature, it would be such a great thing to have.

OK thank you for confirming - I have a 'FIXMIX' bat file that I run after games that mess up the mixer so that's the best I can do, at least the next game that comes along doesn't blast me.
