I've searched the net for a common "old sierra sound" answer, but had no luck.

I can run SQ1 EGA by executing "sierra" in Dosbox (or from WinXPPRO with VDMsound), but of course, the old AGI Sierra games default to PC SPeaker sound.

To select Adlib (or better) sound in such an old Sierra adv, I remember having to go into the INSTALL program. But INSTALL refuses to run in DOSbox or in Windows with (or without, for that matter) VDMSound!

I got my SQ1 EGA from Spacequest.net, so it's the latest release.

I remember there being an extension you could add to the executable "sierra".. something like:

sierra -adlib

which would select that as it's sound. But that's not it.

I also tried editing the "sierra" setup file, which has two entries:

Wav=0
Midi=0

I tried changing these to Wav=1, Midi=1, etc., Wav=2, etc., but nothing worked! I am doomed to blips and thweeps of Pc Speaker sound!

So in short, does anyone have any idea how to get SQ1 Ega to run with any sound other than PC speaker!

Thanks!

AGI games for DOS do not have adlib sound at all. Only PC Speaker.

Although... there is a sound blaster patch for the AGI engine that will enable 4 voice sound.
