Hello,,
Anyone has a soyo 486 vesa green motherboard? Basically the same as those pc-chips, 4dxl, umc418 and tk8498f stuff. Little bit different layout but almost the same look.

Finally got my 256k cache with that motherboard. Got 3 different as above but none of them works with different cache chips or more than 128. If i put 256k in them they usually just say no cache or 64k cache present. Can be that i just bought chinesium chips or mobos.

But that soyo, general manual says it supports amd-80 and if i put those settings with amd-120 processor it wont boot, it figures out the processor as 120mhz but halts after memory check but when i put 80mhz amd in it it works just fine, of course with the same jumpers but can it be that the mobo doesnt fully support 3x and works with 2x40mhz? Anyone has experience?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe your motherboard didnt had a more advanced bios rom om the board.

Its like the first boards came with first revision of the bios.. And later boards came with a newer bios version from the factory.

So it could that you have a 1st gen board with will support cpus till 80 Mhz.. But on later boards its possible to also use 120mhz parts.

~ At least it can do black and white~

That might be it, i did swap the bios chip from a pc-chips motherboard. the layout is the same just different manufacturer but supports the 120mhz cpu but that soyo didnt like that bios at all. though i might have to adjust the jumpers too for it to post.
