Hi I bought a NOS, wireless card for my Compaq Armada running Windows 98SE. According to the packaging it should support windows 98SE. I had to install internet explorer 5 for some system file and I did so. Installed the drivers from the cd before inserting the card and I get BSOD. Remove the card reboot and same BSOD again. After the BSOD I can usually get back to windows and for instance check device manager and the driver seems ok but if I run the program to access WiFi the computer locks.

Also tried to reinstall windows and tried the unofficial update package (2.1) and also tried installing IE 6. But same thing.

I've pondered the idea of installing windows Me just to test the card but I shiver when I think of it. Any other ideas that is less disgusting?

Hmmm what version driver did it come with ?
when I download newest drivers (v5.30) for the rev E the drivers do not have a Win9x directory and the included docs do not mention Win98 at all, just Vista and Up. Driver version 5.11 from 2007 does list Win9x.

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun
