I have had yet another USB CF adapter break on me, where one of the pins in the slot coming loose. This is the adapter I used to plug the CF into my modern PC, not the adapter I use to plug into my retro IDE slot.

Do durable CF adapters exist? Can anyone recommend one?

look for lexar lrw400
I also went through several because they kept breaking on me, been using the lexar for years now without issues.
