I have a client that we are trying to utilize DosBox to get an old copy of Symantec Q&A 4.0 operational. However, the program is not allowing us to open a database file, indicating that it was configured to only run on a network drive. Is there a setting or method that we might set to emulate a network drive? This was in from the days of Novell Server O.S. systems. Any advice? Thank you, Sheadyman

Q&A will check if network functionality is provided by the OS. Have a look at https://www.vdos.info/faqs.html - Miscellaneous - SHARE - Record locking (RL) by multi-user applications.

Another alternative is to use DOSBox-X, it also has SHARE.EXE support.

Appreciate the responses. DosBox-X ended being the fix.

You read the vDos FAQ section, and so know it's not about "SHARE.EXE support"?
Fingers crossed with DOSBox-X on the long term.
Though if Q&A is used by only one, there should be no problem.

While both DOSBox-X and vDos/Plus support such programs, DOSBox-X offers wider support for different types of DOS programs as far as I know. It is also completely free to use like most DOSBox builds.
