As far as I know the most important thing is to have a compatible chipset, it extends a lot the compatible mobos list searching for the chipsets

Hey I just had a look and non of these motherboards have driver support for Windows XP. The closes would be GA-Z87N-WIFI but the only XP drivers it has is the WLAN Driver and BT Drivers. I am assuming they have deleted the drivers ?? or they never had any and you just seen XP listed in driver section but did no actually check to see if there was actual drivers ??

It may be tough finding any soc 1150 official XP support with "Microsoft ending support for Windows XP on April 8, 2014". Most of the soc 1150 came out late 2013, and like when MS and Intel officially dropped Win 7 support (effected boards with B360/H370,Q370,Z370,etc in exact same year) you may not find much on "official" support. However there are most likely Intel official chipset drivers that do fully support H81/87.etc , and will not be listed on any current website. Using wayback machine can point to what you may need but it is still having issues...
For some of us old farts Fernando at WinRaid was our guide to chipset drivers for many years. He inspired me to find the proper .inf and drivers to run Win7 on a Asrock Z370 Pro board which I am currently typing this in Win7 😁

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

I checked this list of motherboard , but none of the boards have official drivers for Windows XP. It seems that drivers have been removed from manufacturers' sites?

So far I have found the only LGA-1150 motherboard that has Windows XP 32bit/64bit drivers:
ASUS B85-PLUS
https://www.asus.com/supportonly/b85-plus/helpdesk_download/

The attachment Screenshot 2025-06-24.jpg is no longer available

EDIT:
These ASUS WinXP drivers installed perfectly on Gigabyte GA-B85-HD3-A and GA-B85M-D2V, including Intel Chipset, Intel ME, Realtek LAN and Realtek HD Audio (igpu driver not tested).

Interesting. I have an MSI H97 Gaming 3, also LGA1150 (Xeon E3-1276 v3) that I hadn't considered trying as an XP box, but maybe I should!

My daily driver is XP64 on an Asus P9X79 LE with an i7-4820K and 64GB RAM (vidcard is ASUS Radeon EAH6450HD 1GB). Installed with zero drama, and has all drivers. This system also runs XP32, but I'm not using it for gaming so prefer having more performance and RAM. NVMe drivers also work (it has two NVMe drives, each on a PCIe card). This is absolutely stable, and IIRC its uptime record is presently 14 months.

I also have XP64 on a Lenovo Thinkstation S30 type 4351, also X79 chipset, Xeon E5-1620 v2, 64GB RAM, some random vidcard out of the parts box. This one was an adventure, it did not want to load the SATA driver, and we went round and round then on about the 10th try XP64's installer skipped a step, and it installed -- literally by mistake. But it has all drivers (except for the onboard SAS) and runs fine.

I had an ASUS H81M-E (from an ASUS M52AD PC) and Windows XP SP3 works on it even with integrated Intel onboard graphics. Just use the drivers from DriverPack and all is set to go
