Hello all, first post here.
I'm trying to run an old classic called Arsenal: Taste The Power. It's a DOS era game but I have an original CD, brand new condition, as sent to me from overseas by the original developer (Legend!)
I think it is actually a win32 executable but for some reason needs DOSBox to run using WINE, so I'm asking the question here.
Running Debian 11 stable; I've ripped an .iso of the disk and mounted it as a loop device within the native filesystem. I then created a fresh WINE prefix and added the location of the mounted .iso to the list of wines virtual drives, making sure to set it's type as CD-ROM. I then cd'd into the appropriate DOS device directory within the wine prefix and ran the installer, which installed the game to the prefix's virtual C drive ($WINEPREFIX/drive_c).
However when I attempt to run the game from this location using WINE, DOSBox runs and the game starts, however it immediately asks me to insert the disk. I have also run the game from the virtual CD drive provided by WINE, with the same results.
I've tried everything but no luck. The .iso file itself was made using the standard 'dd' command line tool, which is reputable at least. I can run the shareware version of the game but not this copy ripped from an actual disk (ironically)
any advice is much appreciated.
