hey guys,

trying to run this card in Win98, but it never detects the gameport.

I'm not sure what card this is? I thought it was an LS, but it doesn't have the data port. I has a game port (that I need)

tnx

Welcome. According to Wikipedia it's an Audigy ES. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_Blaster_Audigy

Digging around some old forum posts, I get the vibe that this is an XP card without proper 98 support. Which seems weird given its configuration, but there are some odd ducks in the Audigy universe. You could experiment with different drivers from the links below, or worst case, swap it for something like an SB0090 which has a header for an external gameport.

Found the same problem: SB Audigy (SB0160) in Windows 98SE

My guess is that Joystick port is managed digitally? If you connect it, it only detects a single device, the other SoundCard I have (which is defective) detects 3.

It sucks I can't just use it as a card with EAX, what's weird is that USB Controllers (like the Precision Wheel) won't work without a game port installed. My motherboard doesn't have a gameport.

I found a SoundBlaster Live! CT4830 online, maybe I'll give that a try.

Or maybe I should switch boards....

So the CT4830 installs, but the game port doesn't work.
Trying a format again.

That didn't work.
If I format with any of the SB Live! cards in a PCI slot, I get a "ATTENTION: A serious disk error has occured while writing to drive C: retry [r]" error.
With the 0160, I didn't get that error

Using an Asus P2B-D

I might look for an older card, even an ISA card.
