Hi guys! Long time lurker, first post. I love this site, btw! So, I broke out my old Core2Quad Q9505 beast with it's IPIBL-LB mb (BIOS rev. 5.43) and I attempted to connect a floppy drive to it. Tried multiple drives, multiple floppy cables, and even a flashfloppy gotek, with multiple OSes (98-Win11!) but no matter what you set in the BIOS, it never detects a floppy drive, no matter the OS, BIOS can't see it. Anyone else have this board or this problem? Help! Thanks!

Haaa one of those micro HP/Asus made by Pegatron boards for Asus and HP. Did you try a straight floppy cable ? Short one with no twists and a 1.44Mb floppy drive ?

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

I had dc7100, and it was my base unit with FDD. Some time ago upgrade it to dx2400 because it has one of the last "modern" motherboards (IPIBL-LB) with FDD connector.

At first FDD testing with IPIBL-LB, FDD (selected in BIOS) was dead. It was no problem because I had two more FDD's, and AFAIK all of them was fully functional (tested on dc7100). Later I checked IPIBL-LB with all 3 FDD devices, without any sign of life. Again, I tested all 3 FDD devices in dc7100 and all are working OK. In both setup everything is identical (power supply, cables...) except motherboard. There are also few similar topics on another forums without solution.

I found that problem is in BIOS v5.43 (P6140f). Probably is related to HP PC (case) model where in card reader slot can't be placed FDD, so that option is not supported (in BIOS).

In my dx2400 manual, there are instructions for replacing card reader module with FDD, so it should work. I downgraded from v5.43 to last original version for dx2400, that is v5.37 and all FDD's are working fine.
