I've seen in many videos those schemes where, by selecting one cpu pin, you can get all the route to chipset/ram/...
Also for gpus, macs...

I have two questions:

1) does anyone know the programs used to create such maps?
2) are there free/public maps around?

I'll try to create maps for the stuff I repair as I already try to do that on paper.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

No idea what videos you are talking about, but if it's like schematics you should look into kicad.
On the other hand if it's software that gets used with repairs then boardviewer, openboardview, flexbv, landrex should be your tool.

https://www.kicad.org/

http://boardviewer.net/
https://github.com/OpenBoardView/OpenBoardView/releases
https://pldaniels.com/flexbv/

though the actual data to use in those programs you'll have to find elsewhere.
Njoy !

Yes, boardviewer and alike!

Probably has a steep learning curve but in the long run it's gonna be worth it.
At least I'll learn a new skill 😀

Well as the name implies, Openboardview is just a viewer of several filetypes which represent a pcb board layout.
I don't know if some types include the traces. the mostly used .brd files for apple products are only the layout, pins & connections.

and I never looked into how one actually makes one of those. I suspect there are several ways, one starts from the schematic which one can make in kicad or similar, and the other starts with a photo of the board.

I have to admit that it is hard to create schematics.
Firstly you have to do all the drawing.
Secondly you have to know what connects to what.
Lastly you have to know what the components are.

Unless it's about basic cards the task is way beyond anyone's sanity.

I'll treasure what I've learnt in the past weeks and use it only for really important things or basic sketching.

I got too enthusiastic on the subject 😀
