Virtually all external enclosures violates the quality electronics designs. Just barebones just to make work. Only $1 more in parts done correctly will make this more reliable and faster.
What I did was take out power switch, jumped in it's place with hefty wire, added more MLCC large capacitors and cut a trace that feeds power to the USB to SATA bridge chip and installed pair of SMD inductors on this and added large capacitor after the inductors.
Now I have stable transfer rate using power hungry server grade SSDs on this.
