Hello! This is my first post here.

So I have my parts for my first gaming pc. basically all original and the last time I used this system before it was taken apart. My x1900 XT booted up and worked perfectly fine with it. Now as I put it back together, it's like the board tries to detect and interface with it (you can definitely see the longer boot time before it turns over), but in the end is unable to interface with the card. I know that the CPU and board work because it kicks immediately to onboard graphics. I know the PCI-E Bus is good because I threw in a MSI HD 7770 GHZ into it and it booted up with that. and I know that the x1900 XT is 100% working because I threw it into a FM2+ system and it kicked on immediately with normal behavior. Any idea why this might be happening? Any answer would be appreciated, thanks!

Any possibility you can swap the PSU between the machines?

If the problem follows the PSU then you have your answer, if not then it could still be power related, perhaps with failing caps on the board where the X1900 fails to boot.

No dice, I plugged in the apevia 500w into the FM2+ system (originally had the 850w thermaltake) and the x1900 xt still booted up with it no issues. I also tried the thermaltake on the AM2 board and that didnt change anything either.

I figured it out. and unfortunately had to change out the board for a different one. For some reason the nForce chipset does not like my card being in the primary x16 slot. but if I put it in a secondary x16 slot, the card works just fine.
Quite bizarre I must say. I never had that issue back in the day.
