I have strange problem with TR1 capturing in Glidos 131/132 on "Lara's home". 'Caves' and two next levels too.

here is example for "Lara's home"

folders captured by me:

and folders from this topic Re: Lara home-3:

what is wrong with my system? why Glidos on my system produces different folders set? as a result of this I have some texures from TR extra packs missed for me. why?

My config:
Intel D850GB/PIV1,8GHz/1,2GB RDRAMM
Sound card: Creative SB64
Video card: Geforce TI4200, drivers 53.03
System: WinXPSP2+latest hotfixes
Glide resolution: 800x600 windowed or 1280x1024 full
VDMSound2.1.0
tomb.exe is special for Glidos support

There are different versions of TR1 out there -- and that means very subtle differences in the PHD files for thse different versions. This results in different folder names when captured.

Most people seem to have PHD files dated 25/10/1996 -- what dates are yours?

I thought the discrepancies were related to the 3dfx executable, not the level files 😕

Gambit37, Kaminari, someone, anyone

please create md5 summs from your TR1 CD.
http://md5summer.org
and share your sums, then I could find differencies between my CD and yours. It would be the first step on way "how to" fix my problem

Well, at some point it will be useful to have variations of texture packs that cater for all the different versions. You might as well just continue as you are and we can later consolidate folder names together?

Kaminari, we all are supposed to have 3dfx Voodoo Rush tomb.exe aka tomb.exe for glidos support.

So it's highly improbable that I used other tomb.exe than Gambit37 in his TR Extra capturing.

I still do not know real cause of the problem. 🙁
md5 sums or full files set would answer. probably.

Some texture/mesh data in your files is diferent -- in the earlier versions, the Controller 3D icon is a small gameboy type game with Pong on the screen. In the version you have, it's simply four keyboard keys (the arows).

The difference in texture data causes Glidos to generate different folder names.

I'm not going to send you the PHD files as it's copyrighted data. As I noted above, you may as well continue with capturing folder names from your own PHD files. This will eventually be more useful for the long term efforts on new texture generation as it means we could consolidate folder names for different versions and people can download the ones they need and have them work properly.

we could consolidate folder names for different versions...
how?
"consolidator" should have both file sets.

if you could at least share raw captured data I would be able transform TRX Levels to suitable format for my phd files and then create simplest convert.cmd file for public use.

Not quite actually. There's at least two different versions of the TR1 exe for 3dfx cards, one of them is a beta and is nevertheless commonly used. That's why I put a couple of relevant links in the Glidos Files forum (topic "Tomb Raider Files").

one of them is a beta
i tried this beta, Glidos crushed and showed desktop. 🙁

minimal data required for me now is (for Lara's Home)
8300657313CCCC448CE15676F4D01954\Complete.gif
BE6CD750CE286114EABFA0EBB4F4F94F\Complete.gif

only then I will be able transform/rename provided quality texures to correct ones for me and share my knowledge for future reference.

The link I provided in the aforementioned thread is not the beta, it's the good one required by Glidos. I don't know where you can find the beta, though it used to be distributed about everywhere at Tomb Raider Chronicles, The Croft Times, etc. You need the good one, not the beta. If the good one indicated above makes your Glidos crash, then something's wrong with your installation.

Btw, my version is the French TR Gold edition and I doubt the checksum would be the same (the French dub is embedded in the PHD files).

I think Gambit37 and I have discussed this before. We can use link files in the texture packs, so that all the game versions can be handled with a single texture pack, but without needing multiple copies of the overriding textures.

As far as I know it is the differnce in level data that causes this. There are some cases where the game textures are identical, but packed differently into 256x256 squares.
