I wasn't sure exactly where to post this, but here we go!

I am trying to get a creative labs sound blaster ct5803 running on windows XP, but I am having some issues. I have a zip file with drivers that I think have worked in the past for this same computer, but they don't seem to be working now. The install process appears to go fine, no errors or anything, but the card never gets detected as an audio device. How should it show up in device manager? I am not sure windows is even detecting the card.

I have found some sources saying that this card is an oem one from a gateway pre-built, so I doubt it is very good, but it is what I have.

My system is as follows: pentium 4 2.0GHz, windows xp sp3, intel permedia 2 PCI VGA card, some intel motherboard I think from another pre-built.

Any help would be appreciated!

That is SB uses the ES1371/1373 chip (was labeled as Sound Blaster AudioPCI 64/128 and was OEM to both Dell and Gateway according to my SB master # model list).....
The 5801, 5803, 5805 and 5807 all used that same Ensoniq chip IIRC. Picture of the card with some info: https://flaterco.com/kb/audio/PCI/index.html#CT5803
Did you try the WebUpdate or Driver only packages here: https://support.creative.com/Products/Product … Others&CatName=

Thanks for the info!

I did try that driver, but when I run the .exe it loads something for a second then stops and shows a blank window titled "info" with only an "ok" button, so it doesn't seem to work right on my machine.

This one has a folder "Updated Windows XP Driver". The inf file lists one Gateway card there (ES1371,PCI\VEN_1274&DEV_1371&SUBSYS_8054107B), but no match with the string "5803".

I got the card working today, turns out I didn't do my due diligence and check for hardware issues before chasing software. My case is missing a couple of standoffs under the pci slots so the card was not fully inserted into the slot.

Not a very satisfying result, I apologize for wasting time.

anyways, see you folks later!
