Saw this bit in a Viper II review, mentions the reluctance developers had in utilizing T&L fully due to (their) market conditions. What's with that? Kind of amusing.

Mind you, although hardware T&L isn't something that needs to be specially supported by games, many games don't benefit very much from it. This is because they're written to run OK on the large majority of graphics cards without hardware T&L. If a game has tons of lights all over the place, which the GeForce can elegantly handle, it'll crawl on other cards. So hardware T&L is under-used at the moment.

Sounds like any new feature that has yet to saturate the market to me. Have to include EGA support, not everyone has a VGA card. Software renderer is a must, many have yet to buy into the 3D accelerator craze. Go easy on the dynamic lights because it might be slow for a lot of people. Better make it look good with raytracing off, still a lot of GTXes out there. etc etc
