Oh my gosh it was thrown away when we moved in 2003, I was so sad about that. If only I could find another copy of this issue!

I actually remember that one with the DX4 and the running track background!

I found a few issues of that archived but with the advertisements stripped, which is what I most wanted to see, doh. Computer Mart was one I got when I was in UK around the same time also, which was a newspulp weekly with a ton of classifieds.

edit: wait, was it "Micro Mart" ??? am sure about the mart part, because it was aping the "printed Craigslist" Exchange & Mart.

I think the same magazine was one of the first to feature a very, very early version of Slackware Linux on the cover about that time, or maybe a little earlier. It was the thing that started my career.

I think it was slackware 4, black disk, 2nd half of 1995? Had typos preventing boot from a soundblaster CD interface, because it was spbcd in initab or fstab or something instead of sbpcd

I heard someone else say this on the net, that there was a very early version of Slackware in PCW (which may be the first mainstream magazine to include it on CD, outside of any Linux specific one). I could not find an issue that matches the description of very early like '94-'95. However my notes does say PCW Feb '96 may have featured Slackware 1.2.0.3, which is a bit odd being both late and out of date with times at the same time. However, people's memories seem to suggest an issue around '95?

Slackware 4 came out in '98.

Too bad the 1996 year is filled with replicas of the 1997's issues by mistake. Also, careful, the list shows 1994 twice, but the 2nd one does show 1995 issues

Yeah, that would seem to tally with my memory. If it was later, it could not have been much.

I remember having to write the install from the cd to a stack of floppies.

I think I went out soon after and bought a copy of the "Infomagic Linux Toolbox" as I was so impressed with it.
