Greetings,

Does anyone know of, remember, or have any information on CTC branded PCs from the early to mid-90s? I had a CTC 486sx/33 with a 213mb HD in a horizontal desktop configuration in 1993, and then upgraded to a CTC 486DX2/66 tower with I think it was a 768mb HD, probably in 1994 (I remember being blown away and thought I would never fill it.) I shipped that to CTC for warranty issues and got it upgraded to a CTC Pentium 90 (Veil of Darkness digitized speech intro was screechy so I played around and changed a jumper which overclocked it to 100Mhz and fixed the digitized speech - pure luck with that!) and Windows 95 (it had just been released) which I upgraded with a 6GB HD (I did end up filling the 768MB,) a Voodoo1, and a floppy/ide controller card after the floppy port died and I needed help to see all 6GB. I know that they were sold at Sun TV & Appliances.

Thanks!

I remember CTL but not CTC. CTL is still in business, back in 90's they made/sold clone pc's...now they do chrome books iirc

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

There was a CTC Corporation out of Fremont,CA making 486 systems in the early 90s according to fccid.

Only possibly relevant pic I could find with a quick search was this one...

The attachment CTC 486SX.jpg is no longer available

...couldn't be (could it?) 😀

WOW! That is definitely the CTC I remember. My 486SX/33 had that logo. It was a tad wider as the floppy drive was next to the 5.25 bays. I have been trying to hunt down what motherboards and videocards they were using. I have never seen a used CTC for sale, anywhere.

There's a Sun ad on https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/89616813/ which contains a CTC system...partial text reads "CTC 486SX-33MIIZ Computer witii 340 MB Hard Drive and 4 MB RAM With the 340 MB hard drive, you can store hundreds of documents, applications and more..."
