Death Gate (by legend) doesn't seem to start at all. It gives an error stating:

"Unable to allocate memory for the sound/voice directory cache"

I've tried changing the amount of ram, disabling and enabling xms and ems but it doesn't seem to help. Not sure what else to do for a memory issue.

I've tried it using the CVS and 0.63 and its the same. 😖

I remember to have tried a cd-rip version some time ago (probably from Underdogs) and it worked under Windows XP. Try different sound settings. You should start without sound...

Proper CD version definitely works but that game is hard to come by these days. There was something about that game and multiple CD drives, you may want to play with that. IIRC, the game has text configuration file, check if its contents make sense. If everything else fails, just play it without sound. Voices/sfx are not particularly great and definitely not essential for the game.

Well it works with Adlib for music and no sound effects. Thats good enough, Legend games don't have amazing sound effects anyway 😉
