Hello,

I'm trying to get Stonekeep running under Windows XP - I've read all the Stonekeep threads here, but no-one else seems to have the same problem that I'm having. When I try to run the game under DosBox, i get a message saying 'Stonekeep cannot run with virtual memory active'.

So how do I de-activate virtual memory in XP?

Thanks

Your post is a little unclear. Are you sure you've actually downloaded, installed and are using the program called "DOSBox" and that you're not referring to Windows XP's built-in emulation?

XP's virtual memory is not detectable to a program running in DOSBox.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I've downloaded & installed DosBox, and I'm trying to run Stonekeep from within DosBox.

I've amended the dosbox.conf file to autorun the following:

mount c c:\ mount d f:\ -t cdrom c: cd intrplay cd stonkeep […]
Show full quote

mount c c:\
mount d f:\ -t cdrom
c:
cd intrplay
cd stonkeep

but otherwise I haven't tweaked any settings.

When I type sk ( Stonekeep's start up file is sk.bat) I get a message saying that DOS/4GW is starting, then the message:

'ERROR: 'Stonekeep cannot run with virtual memory active'.

sk.bat has the following lines:

@echo off
set dos4gvm=eregcard
D:\data\SK.EXE %1 OTHER_OS

Any ideas?

Thanks

OK, as you mentioned that XP's virtual memory cannot be accessed from within DOSBOX, I thought maybe that the error message was incorrect, and that perhaps the problem was somewhere else.
I double checked all the settings and found that the SB IRQ was different in Stonekeep to the setting in DosBox.conf.

Changing that has done the trick

Thanks
